Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (pic) has sued LA Fitness for allegedly failing to protect him during a 2023 beating at one of the chain’s South Florida gyms, leading him to be hospitalised.

The 28-year-old Bushwick native, born Daniel Hernandez, is seeking over US$1mil in damages over an assault by a trio he identified as members of the Latin Kings gang, according to legal documents filed in Palm Beach County and obtained by TMZ.

The Gummo performer — who in 2019 testified against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang — says the severity of the attack, which happened inside one of the gym’s saunas, was exacerbated because of employees’ incompetence with regard to security protocol. He also says staffers took longer than they should have to call police after learning of the brutal assault.

Hernandez sustained injuries to his ribs, jaw and back and, as a result, says he suffered bodily pain and suffering, disability, humiliation, medical expenses, loss of income and diminished quality of life, per TMZ.

Within days, three men were arrested for the ambush, which was captured on video that circulated on social media at the time. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
