Hong Kong singer GooChan, whose real name is Anthony Chan Chak-hung, has announced his indefinite hiatus after being exposed for cheating on his now ex-girlfriend, influencer Samantha Kwok.
The pair, who had dated for seven years, announced their breakup earlier in February but never disclosed the reason for their split.
In an Instagram post, Kwok, expressed gratitude for their shared memories but acknowledged that their ending wasn’t what she had hoped for.
“The process for accepting this wasn’t easy. You could even say it was painful,” she wrote.
GooChan, 27, also admitted that he was lacking in many areas at the time and apologised for “handling the relationship poorly”.
Suspicions of a third party quickly surfaced after the split and were recently fuelled when a video and audio clip went viral on Threads.
In the footage, believed to have been recorded by one of Kwok’s friends, GooChan is seen knocking on a door and saying, “Come out, don’t be afraid.”
He then enters the room with a woman presumed to be Kwok, before the camera pans to reveal the third party – a young woman believed to be 18 years old.
An accompanying audio clip captured a heated exchange between two individuals believed to be Kwok and GooChan, during which the former confronts him after discovering his infidelity.
“I normally sleep in the master bedroom. Why are you sleeping in my spot?” Kwok exclaimed.
The clips quickly gained traction online, prompting GooChan to address the allegations.
In his statement, the singer admitted to hurting Kwok and apologised for “failing” her, despite the years of love and companionship she had given him.
“From when I had nothing, no matter how hard life was, you were always there to support me. However, I didn’t cherish you, ruined your happiness and caused you irreversible pain,” he wrote.
GooChan also extended his apology to his friends, colleagues and fans for the trouble he had caused.
He added that he would take full responsibility and step away from the public eye for now.
“I won’t respond to this matter anymore. I promise to never do anything to hurt anyone again,” he concluded.
