Gucci names Jin of BTS as its global brand ambassador

Gucci has announced that Jin (Kim Seok-jin), of K-pop boyband BTS, is joining the luxury fashion house as its global brand ambassador.

Breaking the news, Women's Wear Daily quoted Sabato De Sarno, Gucci's creative director, as saying that Jin’s “warm and kind personality is truly magnetic – and his style is simply unique".

De Sarno added: "He is a generous and extraordinary artiste who is able to move people with his music, which makes us even more honoured to share this journey with him.”

Jin said that it is "meaningful and thrilling to be a part of such a house".

He called the brand "iconic", with a "long-standing heritage and modernity".

Before this, Jin has frequently been spotted wearing Gucci designs. It led to wild speculations by fans about whether he will eventually be taken on by the luxury label.

Just recently, he was taken on by luxury jewellery brand Fred.

He is showing that the K-wave in the fashion industry is still going strong.

His fellow BTS members have also been snatched up by global brands as their ambassadors. This is in addition to other South Korean artistes growing their their fashion influence.

Currently, NewJeans‘ Hanni, Lee Jung-jae, Park Gyu-young and Jay Park are also Gucci ambassadors alongside Jin.
