When Eva Lian steps in front of the camera as a television host or emcee at an event, her style speaks before she does.
Effortlessly polished, her fashion sense is rooted in something deeper than trends.
“I believe it starts with knowing your body inside-out,” says Lian, a millennial.
This philosophy has shaped not only her personal wardrobe, but also her decade-long journey mentoring others, now extending into corporate training, on how to align their image with their lifestyle.
She says that her approach to fashion is as much about respect and authenticity as it is about looking good.
Lian claims she was conscious of sustainability long before it became buzzworthy, treasuring timeless pieces – some of which she has worn and re-styled for over 20 years.
“Fashion, for me, isn’t just fun. It’s also conscious, timeless and meaningful,” she says, about her style philosophy.
How would you describe the way you dress, and has it evolved over time?
In my earlier days, I’d describe it as sunshine, vibrant and trendy.
Oh yes, it has definitely evolved! Today, my style feels more elegant or old-money – bright and chic, with a touch of timelessness that I really treasure.
Sustainability has also become part of my style DNA.
I love mixing in preloved pieces that carry stories, because true style isn’t just about looking good. It’s about making choices that last and matter.
And here’s something fun: I also love playing with menswear – styling “his clothes” my way and transforming them into feminine looks that turn out effortlessly trendy and chic.

What would you say has influenced your style?
Because of my background as a graphic designer, I’ve always been drawn to art, colours and creative expression.
This naturally influences how I see fashion. It’s like wearable art.
Beyond that, I absolutely adore cheongsams, plus other traditional wear like sarees and baju kurung. I always believe that culture and fashion can come together to create timeless elegance.
What’s your go-to outfit when you want to feel most confident and why?
White is my ultimate basic. It’s clean, timeless, versatile, and powerful all at once. It reflects my bubbly, chatty, sunshine personality, yet also shows my grounded side.
I love pairing it with strong colours and bold accessories, because that balance makes me feel both vibrant and centred – like the best version of myself.
Is there a signature piece or accessory you feel truly defines your look?
I love exploring different styles, and lately I’ve been obsessed with super oversized T-shirts. It has been so much fun styling them in endless ways.
I also own a wide variety of accessories and outfits, which gives me the freedom to experiment.

Do you think different generations approach fashion differently?
Oh, absolutely! I think millennials have a style that’s still really chic and polished.
Gen Z fashion, though, I can’t always relate to it. You know what though? I love their “you do you” attitude.
Fashion should be about expressing yourself, having fun and staying confident, whether it’s minimal, maximal, vintage or futuristic.
As long as you’re happy and not hurting anyone, rock it.
