Airport hotel covers all the bases with buffet spread

Sizzling meats and seafood are cooked fresh before your eyes at Temasya Restaurant.

BUFFET dinners in the Klang Valley often pride themselves on variety, but this place goes the extra mile by combining live cooking stations with an array of international favourites.

Located just a short drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Temasya Restaurant at Movenpick Hotel & Convention Centre KLIA in Sepang, Selangor offers a vibrant dining atmosphere that draws in travellers, families and food enthusiasts.

Its buffet spread brings together Malaysian classics, Indian staples, Chinese delicacies and Western comfort food – all anchored by the excitement of a barbecue station where sizzling meats and seafood are cooked fresh before your eyes.

Executive chef Alfithri Shah Al Bakri said the spread is meant to cater to everyone’s taste buds.

“We have people of all races and nationalities dining here every day.

“We want to create a memorable dining experience for them,” he said.

The BBQ station is a showstopper.

Here, the aroma of charred meat and smoky seafood fills the air as chefs grill a selection of premium cuts and ocean bounty.

The beef fillet is tender and juicy, seared just enough to lock in its natural flavour.

Lamb chops marinated with herbs offer a balance of succulence and smokiness while the tiger prawns are plump and sweet.

For seafood lovers, the lightly charred baby squid is the highlight.

The chicken shawarma brings a Middle Eastern touch, carved straight from the rotating spit and best enjoyed wrapped in flatbread with a drizzle of sauce.

The BBQ station is available every last Saturday of the month.

For those who crave familiar flavours, the Malay station delivers.

The nasi lemak, with its fragrant coconut rice and onion sambal, strikes a balance between heat and sweetness.

The Chicken Rendang carries deep notes of lemongrass and coconut, offering that unmistakable richness Malaysians associate with festive gatherings.

There are also various kerabu (salads) for those who are more health conscious.

At the Indian station you’ll find briyani rice, fragrant with cardamom and cloves, and studded with golden grains thanks to saffron.

It is an ideal base for the hearty Okra Masala, where the vegetables are coated in a thick, spiced tomato gravy.

Equally satisfying is the yellow dhal curry, creamy and comforting with earthy lentils that soak up the warmth of turmeric and cumin.

Shifting gears, the Chinese station offers a trio of classics.

The Chinese Style Noodle With Vegetables and Egg is light and versatile, with springy strands absorbing the savoury flavours of soy and sesame.

The Deep Fried Seabass With Thai Chilli Sauce comes with a crisp skin that cracks beneath the fork revealing moist flesh, all coated in a sweet and spicy glaze.

The Wok-Fried Vegetables With Oyster Sauce rounds out the station with their fresh crunch.

Those leaning towards continental fare will find comfort at the Western station.

The Seafood Lasagna layers pasta sheets with a creamy seafood filling, its richness enhanced by a tangy tomato base.

Cheesy Potato Gratin is indulgence on a plate with its golden crust giving way to soft, creamy slices of potato infused with melted cheese.

As for dessert, the carrot cake offers moist, spiced layers crowned with a smooth cream cheese frosting, balancing sweetness with earthy depth.

The Creme Brule is a classic done right – its caramelised sugar top cracks gently to reveal a velvety custard beneath.

Meanwhile, the Vanilla Mousse Cake is light and airy, with a creamy texture that melts away delicately.

This dining experience is priced at RM158+ (for adults) and RM78+ (for children) with a 30% discount for senior citizens.
