Bomb scare at TRX construction site turns out to be powerbank

KUALA LUMPUR: Workers at a construction site in the city got a scare when they discovered an object believed to be a “grenade”.

However, it turned out to be a false alarm as the “explosive” was actually a power bank.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah (pic) said workers at the TRX construction site alerted the police that they discovered an object believed to be a grenade at about 12.50pm on Friday (May 7).

"The Bomb Disposal Unit (UPB) was deployed to the scene while personnel from the mobile patrol vehicle unit were also dispatched.

"Upon checks, the UPB team leader confirmed that the object was a power bank, and not a grenade," he said when contacted on Sunday (May 9).
