MCO for Kluang, EMCO for Semporna's Kampung Keramat from May 11 to 24, says Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: The movement control order has been enforced at the district of Kluang in Johor from Tuesday (May 11) until May 24, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic).

The Senior Minister (Security) said a total of 512 Covid-19 cases were recorded between May 4 and May 8 after 3,867 people were screened at the district by the Health Ministry.

"The ministry also reported four active clusters while the positivity rate is 13% and cases are rising in villages and housing areas.

"Thus, the government agreed to impose the MCO in Kluang from May 11 until May 24," he said in a statement on Sunday (May 9).

With the MCO in place, interstate and interdistrict travel in Kluang are prohibited, he added.

"The MCO is imposed as we want to prevent movement during the festive season to prevent the spread of the virus.

"The standard operating procedure (SOP) is similar to that of other locations placed under MCO. For more information on SOP, check the National Security Council website at www.mkn.gov.my," he added.

Ismail Sabri also announced that an enhanced MCO has been imposed on Kampung Keramat, in Semporna, Sabah from May 11 until May 24.

"The ministry has recorded 10 positive cases following 101 screenings conducted on residents of the locality.

"The ministry also reported a spike in cases while SOP compliance among the residents is still low.

"Therefore, the government agreed to impose enhanced MCO there from May 11 until May 24," he said.
