Another boy drowns in Melaka, making it three drownings in a day


MELAKA: Melaka recorded another drowning case involving an 11-year-old boy, less than 24 hours after two children also shared the same fate at a different location in the state.

Ayer Keroh Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Zainuddin Abdullah said the victim’s body was discovered at 4.50pm on Wednesday (May 19) at a river along Jalan Tambak Paya Ayer Molek-Kampung Tiang Dua here.

Earlier, the two other drowning victims from Kampung Gelam, Tanjung Kling were buried at Puasar Abadi burial ground on Wednesday.

Muhammad Fakhrullah Rozami and Badrol Azhan Niz Bachik, both nine-year-olds had drowned in a monsoon drain after falling into it at about 8pm on Tuesday (May 18).

The body of Muhammad Fakhrullah was found on the same day Badrol Azhan's was discovered at 9.35am on Wednesday morning.

The two victims went to the monsoon drain near their home together with Muhammad Fakhrullah’s twin brother who had since returned back safely.
